How can i keep up with new music?

Okay so i have an iPod. and im finding it increasingly difficult to keep up with new music. The way i get any new music is if i stumble across it on T.V. or thru friends. before i had my iPod i listened to the radio constantly and thru all the crappy songs i would find one that i actually liked, but now i have an iPod and its seriously all i listen to. MTV is obsolete, i dnt watch that much T.V. to see any new videos, and a radio is out of the question...lol why listen to it when its 90% crappy annoying songs i hate when i can listen to my iPod which only has songs i love. lol So please give me some tips to stay updated. It would be awesome if there was a website that told me the newest songs out, iTunes Store can only do but so much...It only shows the most popular songs. lol Btw i love Rock, Alternative, Hip-Hop, Metal, Pop, Punk, Indie, Brit Punk pretty much everything except extreme versions of genres like Death metal, or Gangsta Rap. Thnx....
