How do I land this job ?

I am trying to land a supervisory job with and insurance co.This company has been advertising this position since april. They spoke with me verbally but it appears they are continuing their search.Knowing the industry very well I do not think there are too many ideal candidates out there. and if there are individual with better credential then mine, then they are already well placed in other companies. Been in the business for over 15 years I know I have all the requisites for the job.I want to email the hiring manager and ask for a face to face interview or reconsider my application. How should I word my email to him? This hiring manager appears to be a newbee and is not living in a real world.
